Billy Dean Edmonds, age 77 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Friday February 20, 2015. He was native of West Frankfort, IL, and was preceded in death by his father, George E. Edmonds.
Mr. Edmonds is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay Rains Edmonds; mother, Pauline Morgan Edmonds of West Frankfort, IL; son, Eric Edmonds, and his wife Lisa of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Dena Chapman, and her husband Bob of Dahlonega, GA, Kara Alford, and her husband Bill of Coral Springs, FL; sister, Gloria House, and her husband, Ray of West Frankfort, IL; brother-in-law, Richard Rains, and his wife Jackie of Acworth, GA; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Polk and Steve House officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Edmonds was a member of Northside Baptist Church. He was a retired Master Sergeant of the US Air Force after 23 years of service, having served in Vietnam. He was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Mr. Edmonds was also a retired State Farm agent in Washington, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, the Disabled American Veterans, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Mr. Edmonds.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff of the Alvin C. York 1 B Hospice, for the love and care they gave to Mr. Edmonds and his family.
