Ann and Bart Piercy were killed as they left their Murfreesboro church Sunday.
The couple were transported to a local hospital where they were both pronounced dead.
The Piercys had been members of Franklin Road Baptist Church for more than 20 years.
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -An elderly couple married for 60 years was killed in a crash as they were leaving their Murfreesboro church Sunday afternoon.
Murfreesboro police said Ann Piercy, 78, exited the parking lot of Franklin Road Baptist Church to turn left onto Old Fort Parkway just after 1 p.m. and was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound.
Witnesses outside the church told the victims' family there was a church bus that pulled into the parking lot as Piercy was pulling out, possibly obstructing her view.
Piercy and her husband, 79-year-old Harold “Bart” Piercy, were transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The driver of the car that hit the couple, 24-year-old Frederick Carney, and his passenger, 24-year-old William Walker, suffered minor injuries and were also taken to Saint Thomas for treatment.
Police said the cause of the crash was Ann Piercy's failure to yield.
No charges were filed although the investigation remains under investigation.
The Piercys married when they were teenagers and lived just a few blocks from the church of which they were members for more than 20 years.
Family members said Bart Piercy, who would've celebrated his 80th birthday on Friday, stayed after church on Sunday for a veteran's luncheon.
Ann Piercy had returned to the church to pick up her husband. They were on their way home when they were hit.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
