Deborah Kay Miller age 46, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Tuesday October 28, 2014, of injuries received from a motorcycle accident. A native of Maryville, TN, she was the daughter of Freida Flynn Cox and the late Roger Donald Cox.


Deborah is survived by her daughters, Tasha Nichole Miller of Murfreesboro, TN and Morgan Lea Miller of Mount Shasta, CA; son, John Thomas Miller of Murfreesboro, TN; significant other, Lisa M. Gibson of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Brenda Evans of Maryville, TN; niece, Savanna Evans and a nephew, Joseph Evans both of Maryville, TN; and by her loving pets.


Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 will be present.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported Fredrico Martinez, 20, was walking on the westbound side of Barfield Crescent Road when he entered into the roadway for unknown reasons.


The truck was unable to avoid Martinez when he crossed into the path of the oncoming truck.


Martinez was flown via LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was last listed in critical condition.


The accident is still under investigation.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Kerry Meier; children, Kristen A. Meier of Murfreesboro, 1LT Joey S. Meier of Savannah, GA, and Caitlin A. Meier of Murfreesboro; brother, Steve McGregor and his wife Jean of NC; sisters, Stephanie Earley of VA and Sarah Paquette and her husband Tom of TX; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.


Susan was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was a member of the Legion of Mary. Susan enjoyed tutoring children and was the founding member of Petals with a Purpose. She shared her love of children's books with many children. Susan was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend.

Winfred Clark (Fred) Gaither - Murfreesboro Post

Winfred Clark (Fred) Gaither, 91, died October 22, 2014, at 8:05 AM at Woodbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Cannon County and graduated from Auburn High School in 1941. He retired from Veterans Administration Hospital in Murfreesboro as Chief, Ward Administration, on January 8, 1982. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy with honorable discharge in December 1944.


Mr. Gaither is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sara Hamilton Gaither of Auburntown, TN; daughter, Winifred Donna (Eddie) Nichols of Auburntown, TN; son, Dr. Douglas H. Gaither, Davenport of Iowa; and six grandchildren , Sara Drue (Chris) Zimmer of Syracuse, NY; Milton Clark (Elizabeth) Gaither of Mechanicsburg, PA; Chimena Paige (Bill) Kabasenche of Pullman, WA; Vanessa Kate (Matt) Hardy of Nashville, TN; Cameron Jess (Heather) Gaither of Racine, WI and Gretchen Elaine (Judson) Abernathy of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, Andrew (Drew) and Canyon Zimmer; Rachel, Aidan, Susanna and Macrina Gaither; Elyria and Eliason Kabasenche; Lauren, Elena, and Bella Gaither; and Trane and Theo Abernathy. Additionally, he is survived by a brother, Jerry Forrest Gaither of Murfreesboro, TN, and nieces, nephews and cousins.


Mr. Gaither was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Edward and Jodie Hawkins Gaither; three sisters, Elizabeth Lucille Hancock, Jessie Pauline Street, and Sara Nell Dickey; five brothers, Robert (Red) Hawkins, Noel Edwin, I.B., Otis Garland, and David Nugent Gaither and a grandson, Andrew (Andy) Edward Nichols.


Mr. Gaither was a devout Christian and member of Auburn Baptist Church where he served many years as deacon, Sunday school teacher and song leader. Additionally, he was a founding member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Beech Grove, TN. He was recorder for the Auburntown City Counsel and member of the Auburntown Historical Society for several years.


Mr. Gaither was an electrician and an avid repairman who could refurbish, repair and re-design almost anything including antique lamps. He enjoyed gardening, eating good food, mowing the lawn and traveling with wife Sara. He appreciated computers and eBay shopping. Mr. Gaither began each weekday by reading scripture, praying and completing a physical exercise routine.


Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, October 24 from 4 to 8 PM at the Woodbury Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home on Saturday, October 25 at 10 AM with Bro. Jerry Osborne officiating. Following the services, burial will take place at the Donnell Cemetery in Auburntown.

Mr. Gaither was a devout Christian and member of Auburn Baptist Church where he served many years as deacon, Sunday school teacher and song leader. Additionally, he was a founding member of Lakewood Baptist Church, Beech Grove, TN. He was recorder for the Auburntown City Counsel and member of the Auburntown Historical Society for several years.


Mr. Gaither was an electrician and an avid repairman who could refurbish, repair and re-design almost anything including antique lamps. He enjoyed gardening, eating good food, mowing the lawn and traveling with wife Sara. He appreciated computers and eBay shopping. Mr. Gaither began each weekday by reading scripture, praying and completing a physical exercise routine.


Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, October 24 from 4 to 8 PM at the Woodbury Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home on Saturday, October 25 at 10 AM with Bro. Jerry Osborne officiating. Following the services, burial will take place at the Donnell Cemetery in Auburntown.

Winfred Clark (Fred) Gaither, 91, died October 22, 2014, at 8:05 AM at Woodbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a native of Cannon County and graduated from Auburn High School in 1941. He retired from Veterans Administration Hospital in Murfreesboro as Chief, Ward Administration, on January 8, 1982. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy with honorable discharge in December 1944.


Mr. Gaither is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sara Hamilton Gaither of Auburntown, TN; daughter, Winifred Donna (Eddie) Nichols of Auburntown, TN; son, Dr. Douglas H. Gaither, Davenport of Iowa; and six grandchildren , Sara Drue (Chris) Zimmer of Syracuse, NY; Milton Clark (Elizabeth) Gaither of Mechanicsburg, PA; Chimena Paige (Bill) Kabasenche of Pullman, WA; Vanessa Kate (Matt) Hardy of Nashville, TN; Cameron Jess (Heather) Gaither of Racine, WI and Gretchen Elaine (Judson) Abernathy of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, Andrew (Drew) and Canyon Zimmer; Rachel, Aidan, Susanna and Macrina Gaither; Elyria and Eliason Kabasenche; Lauren, Elena, and Bella Gaither; and Trane and Theo Abernathy. Additionally, he is survived by a brother, Jerry Forrest Gaither of Murfreesboro, TN, and nieces, nephews and cousins.


Mr. Gaither was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Edward and Jodie Hawkins Gaither; three sisters, Elizabeth Lucille Hancock, Jessie Pauline Street, and Sara Nell Dickey; five brothers, Robert (Red) Hawkins, Noel Edwin, I.B., Otis Garland, and David Nugent Gaither and a grandson, Andrew (Andy) Edward Nichols.

Family robbed at Murfreesboro Walmart, Suspects wanted - WKRN


MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Murfreesboro police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying suspects who robbed a family in a Walmart parking lot.


The incident happened Saturday, Oct. 11 at the store on South Rutherford Boulevard.


Police said the family, a couple and their young son, was robbed before they could leave their parking space.


The suspects reportedly approached the family while they were inside their vehicle, threatened them with a weapon and demanded money.


The family complied and a suspect fired a single shot into the car.


One of the suspects is described as a white male wearing a white shirt and black athletic pants with a white stripe. He was bald with a black skull cap on his head.


The driver appeared to be a white female in a pink shirt.

William Grandin Burke, III, age 56 of LaVergne, TN, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2014. He was born in Long Branch, NJ, but grew up in Howell, NJ. Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his father William Grandin Burke, Jr. and a nephew, Eric Burke.


Mr. Burke is survived by his wife, Delinda Long Burke; mother, Grace Elizabeth Bohn Burke of LaVergne, TN; sons, William Joseph "B. J." Burke of Nashville, TN, Kyle Grandin (Heather) Burke of LaVergne, TN, and Steven Darryl (Chelsey) Burke of Murfreesboro, TN; step-children, James "J. D." (Heather) Mahon of Murfreesboro, TN, and Elizabeth (Dustin) Odeneal of LaVergne, TN; brothers, Walter (Michelle) Burke of New Jersey, and Wayne (Lisa) Burke of Springfield, TN; sisters, Gladys (Mike) Martin of Murfreesboro, TN, and Joanann (Rick) Goeringer of South Dakota; mother-in-law, Mildred Sloan of Madison, TN; grandchildren, Jadin and Aydin Burke, Hunter, Jamez, and Danilynn Odeneal, Mylee, Jordan, and Jonathan Mahon, and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.


Mr. Burke was of the Baptist faith and a former employee of Nissan.


Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at WOODFIN CHAPEL, SMYRNA. 615-459-3254.
