Mary Rebecca Duval Bennett - Murfreesboro Post

Mary Rebecca Duval Bennett of Murfreesboro, died December 17 at the age of 95. She was born in Cross Plains, TN, on November 19, 1919. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Frank Duval and Frances Duval, grandfather, Dr. R. L. Duval of Carthage, TN, and husband SFC E7 Harlan E. Bennett.


Mrs. Bennett belonged to First United Methodist Church of Murfreesboro and the Ann Huggins Sunday School Class. Mrs. Bennett worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Co at Ft. Campbell, KY, Ft. Jackson, SC, and Murfreesboro. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Purple Heart and served as past president. She was also a member of the 26th Yankee Division and the 2nd Division Ladies Auxiliary, was a member of The Order of Eastern Star #363, and volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 20 years.


Mrs. Bennett is survived by daughter Rita Bennett Collett and son-in-law Rev. John Collett of Nashville; grandson Justin Collett (Cathleen) also of Nashville, and granddaughters Lauren Collett Ryan (Scott) of Arlington, VA, and Lisa Collett Farnsworth (Andrew) of Atlanta, GA; sister, Barbara Williams (Jim) of Murfreesboro. Before her passing, she welcomed her three great-grandchildren: Aubyn Bennett Collett, Lorelei Collett Farnsworth, and Greyson Huxley Ryan.


A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 3:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, 1488 Lascassas Pike Murfreesboro, TN 37130. Visitation will be from1:00PM till the service at 3:00PM. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro. Memorial gifts may be given to The Order of the Eastern Star #363, 1206 Southeast Broad Street, Murfreesboro 37130.
