Recap: Middle Tennessee vs. Tennessee St - Bradenton Herald

Murfreesboro, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jacquez Rozier scored a game-high 18 points as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders defeated the Tennessee State Tigers, 65-47, in a non-conference bout at the Murphy Center.

Rozier converted 6-of-7 shots from the field and 6-of-8 at the free-throw line for the Blue Raiders (7-5) as they won their second in a row and the fourth in five tries.

The Tigers (2-10), who have yet to defeat Division I opponent this season, have lost nine in a row since taking down Fisk (75-60) back on Nov. 20. Marcus Roper was the lone double-digit scorer for TSU with his 10 points, after shooting just 2-of-11 behind the 3-point line.

Tennessee State fell behind right out of the gate and never recovered, connecting on a total of just nine field goals in the first half, en route to a 36-23 deficit at the break. The Tigers made only one of their nine attempts from 3-point range and were a meager 4-of-10 at the free-throw line in the period.

After hitting on 54.2 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, the Blue Raiders dipped to only 31.0 percent, but still there was little chance of TSU taking down the hosts.

The Tigers did themselves no favors by converting a mere 4-of-22 on the perimeter and 11-of-24 at the charity stripe.
