M-TEK will be building a new headquarters facility in Murfreesboro, bringing 100 new jobs to the area.
The announcement about the $13.4 million investment was made on Friday morning.
An additional 100 jobs will be transferred from the manufacturing facility in Manchester and the remaining jobs will come from the company's locations in Michigan and Ohio.
The headquarters will include a 63,800-square-foot building on 10 acres on the northwest side of Gateway Boulevard and Garrison Drive.
M-TEK first came to Tennessee 30 years ago. Company officials said the Murfreesboro area is the perfect place to build their company headquarters.
Construction is expected to be completed in August 2016.
“We want to congratulate M-TEK on the decision to expand its presence in Tennessee with the new Murfreesboro headquarters location, and we thank the company for the new jobs created in our state,” said Gov. Bill Haslam in a news release. “Today's announcement is another signal of Tennessee's momentum in the automotive industry, and we are grateful to the company for bringing us one step closer to our goal of making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”
M-TEK is a subsidiary of Kasai Kogyo Co. Ltd. and manufactures a wide range of automotive parts for several North American assembly plants, including Nissan, Volkswagen, Honda and Mazda.
"With this business expansion, Kasai will commit the highest level of growth to Rutherford County and the city of Murfreesboro," said Kuniyuki Watanabe, chairman of Kasai Kogyo Co. Ltd.
With the stroke of a pen, the deal became official.
"You look at the infrastructure that has been put in place and really what Murfreesboro has to offer," Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland said. "I think businesses look and see that Murfreesboro is a great place to do business, a great place to live. It's a great place to raise a family."
The city donated 10 acres of land valued at $4 million to M-TEK, but officials expect to get much more in return. The new headquarters will employ a total of 250 people.
